Wine Appreciation Tips

The following tips will help you gain an appreciation for both the aroma and taste in a bottle of wine posses.

1. As you become more interested and gain a better understanding of wines, start with wines that don’t break your pocket book. If you find enjoyment with a $15.00 bottle why spend $65.00 for a bottle with similar enjoyment? As you gain a better appreciation for subtle differences, then move up to more expenses wines. As you learn to detect the differences, the more appreciative you will be when you try that $99.00 bottle.

2. Try a variety of wines. This enables you to experience new flavors and discover how they blend together. You may find that you like one specific wine and that is fine. However, you probably will appreciate how each bottle and brand is different.

3. Don’t force yourself to drink a wine that you dislike. Just because it is an expensive bottle of wine doesn’t mean that you have to like it. Wine is subjective and your taste buds are the judge. Additionally accept that everyone’s likes and dislikes differ.

4. Stemware is an important aspect of wine. A large bowl in the glass allows the wine to breathe. A good clear blemish free glass also allows you to clearly judge the color and surface tint of a wine.

5. Temperature is very important to wine. Enjoy red wines between 55 and 65 degrees while white wines taste better colder in the 43 to 53 degree range.
